Tribes

Grace has a long and well established system known as Tribes that is central to our sense of community and church ownership. Eight tribes, named for women in the Old Testament, take turns providing readers, greeters, and ushers for Sunday services. They collect the offering and host coffee hour. Working together to support the service and to provide gracious, generous hospitality is often the first step that newcomers take as they are welcomed into and become part of the Grace family. Tribe members also work with our Pastoral Care team, providing support where needed.

Holding occasional home Eucharist gatherings for each Tribe, a cherished tradition, reflects back to our beginnings when the first worship services were held in private homes. Now, as then, they strengthen the community.
